Gang of Wasseypur, a hit film of 2012 directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and written by Koeen Ali and Zeishan Quadri, has been converted to a series. The first installment was released online on 28 August 2012. This movie is the most expensive Bollywood movie ever with a budget of INR 60 million (US$1.2 million). In the first part, the writer talks about why he made this decision to make this series. He also talks about what happened in Gangs Of Wasseypur 1 and how it will lead into Gangs Of Wasseypur 2. Raju (Anushka Sharma) is the only daughter of Abdul Gafoor a cricketer in Wasseypur. Though they live in a small village, Raju's father is a cricket star and they have maximum exposure to the city. Raju's mother was also very religious and she passed away when she was quite young. Raju's father doesn't want her to go to the city because they have no money for her education, but when she has to study in the city, she falls in love with a boy who goes there from time to time (She also takes help from her family friends who run a school there). She refuses to marry the boy in order to complete her education. Her father is so angry that he tells his brother who is working in the city to take her back home, but instead of doing so, he leaves her in a bus stand because she refuses to marry. Raju then walks into a ladies compartment in the bus. She then gets out of the bus when someone opens the door for her because she doesn't want anyone to get into trouble for helping her escape. She then gets hit by a car and is taken to hospital where she stays there for 6 months. She is treated by Dr. Salim (Raj Babbar) who is Kaira's (Ranveer Singh) father. Meanwhile, the Qureshis of Wasseypur are feuding with the Singhs of Wasseypur and they try to marry off their daughter with some Singh boy, but he refuses. She then goes to the Singhs and asks them for their son's hand in marriage. This infuriates them and they say that she cannot do this because they are not equals in status. She says she will get her brother to give her away in marriage to him if he really loves her. He agrees to her deal and they start living together. But a few months after Raju moves in with the Singhs, a huge fight breaks out among them. Her father comes to see her and says he should have never left her in Delhi. Raju was brought up in Wasseypur and wants to stay there because she loves Wasseypur more than the city life. They then leave to Wasseypur, where she takes up cricket for Wasseypur Cricket team. In the middle of the tournament, Kaira gets admitted in a hospital after being hit by a ball while playing for Wasseypur cricket team.
